Drug dealer accused to front court

BATON ROUGE - A drug dealer is facing a court appearance next week after the Baton Rouge Police Department said an undercover officer caught him "gambling and smoking drugs" within the city's Southside neighborhood.

Louisville police Detective Sean Whitaker had been working undercover on April 17.

According to the incident report obtained Monday by WDSU-TV, Whitaker said officers with the department approached a home in the 100 block of South Green Street when they saw Anthony Bostick at the gate, trying to enter the home.

"Bostick was selling some marijuana," said the report. "Bostick was making phone calls from the phone outside."

Police say another person in the home witnessed the officers, called the police and reported that they smelled marijuana coming from a basement bedroom.

"They noticed that (Bostick) was coming out of the basement and smoking a cigar," said the report.

The undercover police came across Whitaker, who asked a man he identified as his brother if he knew who that was and said, "Yeah, he's my brother," according to the report.

"As he was walking away, a female came out of the home with the male police officer and she informed him that he (Bostick) looked suspicious and was walking away," the report says.

Officers then arrested Bostick on a charge of criminal possession of marijuana, according to the report.

The report said the undercover officer gave him marijuana and an alleged sample of crystal meth, a Schedule I controlled substance. The drug charge was added shortly after.

A search warrant affidavit obtained by WDSU-TV indicates that on the same day that Whitaker worked undercover, an officer who witnessed Whitaker selling marijuana to Bostick told the officer about Bostick's arrest.

The affidavit says that officer said that after Whitaker got involved, Bostick made some comments about the case that indicated he was trying to gain publicity for himself.

Police also obtained a photograph and surveillance video taken by a resident of a neighborhood on the 500 block of North Green Street. The image shows the street lighting up in the early morning hours of April 21. The video was obtained by WDSU-TV via a public-records request.

"Officers located that (Bostick) was in possession of a package of cannabis, which, due to his appearance and the fact that he was the only person who came out of the residence carrying the package, he was arrested for this offense and transported to the Orleans Parish Correctional Center for disposition," the affidavit says.

Perth family charged with cultivating cannabis after deaths of children

An Adelaide couple has been charged with cultivating cannabis to create methamphetamine for methamphetamine labelling purposes, South Australia Police said.

David and Lisa McCallister, 34 and 31-year-old Christine McCallister were arrested after an investigation led by NSW police.

NSW Police say they made the arrest during a search on Tuesday, when they seized three plastic containers and three scales.

Police allege Ms McCallister is a former employee of the family who worked at the property they occupy, the house located in New Farm, South Australia.

They say the owner of the house, identified as David, is also an employee of the family, who is the father of her 2-year-old child.

David and Lisa are due to appear in South Australia Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

They have not previously made any arrests.
